MMBC Presented Health Award
In 2023, Mount Moriah Baptist Church was presented with the Dr. George Newby, Jr. Health Equity Leadership Award in honor of George Paul Archie Newby, Jr. Dr. Newby dedicated his professional life to “serving the least of these” in seeking accessible healthcare for all.
Dr. Newby embodied the vision of the Mary Black Foundation to health equity, which we define as when all people have access to opportunities to thrive, both physically and mentally, and no one is limited in achieving health and wellness because of their race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, ability, sexual orientation, age, income, or zip code.
Mount Moriah was honored by the Mary Black Foundation for supporting the health needs of the Spartanburg community through our food bank, exercise/wellness programs and christian counseling ministry. This award was accompanied with a $25,000 grant to support these vital community services.
